Ten Under The Ben 2009

Keswick Bikes come in 2nd at 2009 10 Under Ben race

The last weekend of May saw Keswick Bikes race team, Andy Wrigley of Whitehaven & Chris Hope of Brigham, heading north yet again to compete in one of Scotland's finest MTB endurance races, the '10 Under the Ben'.
Chris blasted across the finish line in an amazing 2nd place, just 2 minutes behind the race winner. Read more about the event on our Team Page.

"Hello there, just thought i'd let you know that I gave the bike it's christening in good old Northumbrian rain and sun up at Kielder the other day and it just floated around everything Nothing was a problem except one very technical black boulder ascent were I only got two- thirds up but saying that I could only manage half way up on the Sovereign, I'll get it in the end.
Anyway, just thought I'd thank you for your patience and advice on a perfect bike and also a thank you to the mechanic who built up the 4X and everyone at KMB.

2009 Fred Whitton Challenge

Whitton Challenge 10th Anniverasry Ride 10th May 2009

The Fred Whitton Challenge is a gruelling 112 mile sportive ride around the Lake District, run in memory of Fred Whitton. The event starts & finishes at Coniston and the route includes the climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott & Wrynose passes.

In the darkest deepest north through 24 hours of sub zero winters night, the Strath Puffer 24 hour MTB Challenge is arguably one of mountain bikings tougher team challenges. Merida Marathon Success

The sun came out and the boys got back from their jaunt in: 1st (CH), 2nd (BB) & 3rd (AW) in the last of this year's Merida Marathon series at Lowther Park, just off the M6 near Penrith.

National Park Buy Konas

The Lake District National Park have chosen to purchase Kona Blasts in order to allow their National Park Wardens ability to use MTB when appropriate rather the motorized vehicle. This is a new initiative under going trial to see how it works. They chose the Blast over other bikes because of its total suitability, value and ease of maintenance. Scott Henderson, National Park warden and keen MTB advocate collected the new bike from Kona Dealer Keswick Mountain Bikes on 28th April and intends to start using it immediately for his work. All of us at KMB hope this is just the start of much wider use of bikes by organizations like the National Park, National Trust and local Police forces.
